Lesson 60 – Rapier
Rapier lesson from last night. There was some extra stuff, but this was the gist of it.
- In time, as the instructor invites in third, straight thrust, no lunge
- In time, as the instructor invites in fourth, straight thrust, no lunge
- In time, as the instructor invites in either third or fourth, straight thrust, with a lunge
- In time, as the instructor attempts to engage in fourth, disengagement with a lunge
- In time, as the instructor attempts to engage in third or fourth, disengagement
- Same thing, with mobility
- Still with mobility, as the instructor places blade in line, engage in the appropriate line and glide
- Same thing, if the instructor retreats after taking the engagement, follow with an advance, then finish the attack
- From the student’s invitation in fourth, simple parry of third, riposte by glide
- From the student’s invitation in third, time thrust in third
- Same thing, with mobility
- From the student’s invitation in third, as the instructor places blade in line, blade seizure in fourth and glide
- With mobility
- Same thing, instructor counterattacks with a disengagement in time, student parries third and ripostes by glide in countertime
- Same thing, but the student defeats the counterattack with a time thrust in third in countertime
- Same thing, instructor has option of:
- Allows the student to get the engagement, in which case the student attacks with a glide
- Frees the blade, but does not attack, student retreats and starts the action again
- Attacks with a disengagement in time, student defeats this with a timethrust
- From the invitation in third, three straight thrusts, end of lesson
